Nan Shi is one of the oldest districts in Shanghai. You can easily see in a map its rouded shape, with an almost perfect street cross in its centre. Just as many other places in China, it is being demolished to make room for new and high standard buisiness or residencial skyscrapers. People living in the old hutongs are being relocated in new buildings, away from their area. Some families refure to move and resist relocation in their old homes as long as they can, surviving in what might, very soon, become one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in China. Living in the GOLDEN MILE is really hard and more expensive than one might imagine.
